I have been providing counseling services as an independent contractor through Family Life Services in Williamsport for over four years and in a private practice for one. I work with individuals, couples, families and groups. Throughout this time I have worked with clients struggling with child abuse issues (current and past), panic disorders, depression and anxiety, grief resolution, life transitions, job stress, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, posttraumatic stress, parent/child conflict, drug and alcohol abuse, pet loss, pain management, obsessive compulsive disorder problems of aging and family therapy. I have also facilitated various Grief Groups.
I have experience working with patients on a partial hospitalization unit. I have had the privilege of working with Hospice patients and their families during some of their most difficult times. And I have worked in a Crisis Intervention Unit. I have also had the pleasure of working with the geriatric population as both Social Services Director and the Assistant Administrator of a nursing home for nine years.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, which is the highest Pennsylvania State qualification for social workers and is recognized as a professional provider for mental health services by almost all health insurance companies. I received my Bachelors Degree from Lycoming College and my Masters in Social Work from Marywood University.
Being born and raised in a small town, I’ve always had an appreciation for nature, clean water, and fresh air. The desire to help preserve these aspects ultimately led me to become an Environmental Engineer. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Penn State in May 2000.
Since graduating, my focus has turned from the health and quality of the environment, to that of human lives. Over the past eight years, I have become very interested in sustaining natural health through proper exercise, a healthy diet, spirituality, and rewarding relationships. My interest in holistic health began with an introduction to yoga. I instantly fell in love and decided to become trained as a Registered Yoga Teacher. I graduated from the Mt. Nittany Institute of Natural Health in 2003 and have been teaching group yoga classes since then.
As yoga brought me more awareness of my body, my interests in natural health continued to grow and I began to explore nutrition, healthy cooking, and organic foods. My own search for what healthy eating meant took me to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I become certified as a Holistic Health Counselor in 2006.
It has become my passion to help others bring balance and a sense of well-being and purpose into their own lives. My most recent accomplishment has been to complete the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy training. It has brought me great joy to watch many Phoenix Rising clients get to know themselves better, become empowered, make changes in their lives, and feel more whole.
I currently have practices in the State College/Boalsburg area and in Williamsport. To schedule a session, call 814-237-4005 or email mandysergent@hotmail.com. You can also find more information about me and my services on my website: http://www.mandysergent.com/Phoenix_Rising_Therapy.html

Cynthia Shilling graduated from the Honolulu School of Massage in 1986 with licensure in Massage Therapy in the State of Hawaii. She practiced out of the Hanalei Salon for 14 years, then with the TLC Wellness Center for 6 years. Cynthia's modes of therapy include Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Pre-Natal Massage, Sports Massage, Foot Reflexology, Reiki, and Pain Management for injuries and debilitating illnesses. Hawaiian Lomi Lomi is a specialized form of massage which was brought to the islands by the early Polynesian settlers, and evolved to become uniquely Hawaiian. Kapuna (elder) Auntie Margaret Machado began teaching in 1973 in Captain Cook, Hawaii, and Cynthia had the fortune of being her student and received a Certificate of Completion in 1989. This modality relaxes the nervous system, increases circulation, creates a tangible sense of well being, and is useful for maintaining health and relieving pain. Cynthia has relocated her practice to the greater Williamsport area because while visiting she fell in love with the Pennsylvania Wilds.
